Football

Football is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each, primarily involving the use of feet to control and pass a spherical ball. The objective is to score goals by getting the ball into the opposing team’s net. The game is played on a rectangular field known as a pitch, with goals at either end.

In most countries, “football” commonly refers to the association football variant, known as soccer in some regions, where players cannot use their hands or arms to play the ball, except for the goalkeeper. Matches are typically divided into two halves, and teams can score points by successfully kicking the ball into the opponent’s goal. The team that scores the most goals wins the match.

Various forms of football exist, including American football, rugby football, and Australian rules football, each with its own rules and gameplay mechanics. Despite the variations, the core objective of scoring with a ball remains a unifying aspect of all football codes. Football is recognized globally for its popularity and is governed by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) at the international level. It’s a sport that emphasizes teamwork, strategy, and physical fitness.
