Geography

Geography is the scientific study of the Earth’s landscapes, environments, and the relationships between people and their environments. It encompasses the analysis of physical characteristics of the Earth’s surface, such as landforms, climates, and ecosystems, as well as human interactions with these physical features, including cultural, economic, and political activities. Geography is divided into two main subfields: physical geography, which focuses on natural processes and features, and human geography, which examines social, economic, and cultural aspects of human activity as they relate to spatial relationships. The discipline employs various tools and methods, including cartography, geographic information systems (GIS), and spatial analysis, to understand and interpret spatial patterns and phenomena. Overall, geography seeks to explain where things are located on the Earth’s surface and why they are distributed in that way.
