Baseball

Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams, typically consisting of nine players each, on a diamond-shaped field. The objective of the game is to score runs by hitting a pitched ball with a bat and then running around a series of bases arranged in a diamond layout: first base, second base, third base, and home plate.

The game is divided into two halves: the top half and the bottom half of each inning. In the top half, the visiting team bats while the home team plays defense; in the bottom half, they switch roles. A team scores a run when a player successfully reaches home plate after touching all four bases in order.

Baseball is governed by a set of rules known as the Official Baseball Rules, and it is known for its distinct pace and strategy, as well as its rich history and traditions. The game is particularly popular in countries such as the United States, Japan, and various Latin American nations, and it is often referred to as “America’s pastime.” Key components of the game include pitching, hitting, fielding, and baserunning.
