Football

Football, commonly referred to as soccer in some countries, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net. The game is played on a rectangular field, known as a pitch, with a goal at each end. Players primarily use their feet to maneuver the ball, but they can also use other parts of their bodies, except for the arms and hands (goalkeepers are allowed to use their hands within the penalty area).

Matches are typically divided into two halves, each lasting 45 minutes, with a break in between. The team with the most goals at the end of the match wins, and in the case of a tie, various formats such as extra time or penalty shootouts may be used to determine a winner, depending on the competition rules.

Football is governed by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) on an international level and is one of the most popular sports in the world, known for its passionate fan base and significant global events, including the FIFA World Cup.
