The NBA, or National Basketball Association, is a professional basketball league in North America, composed of 30 teams. It is widely regarded as one of the premier basketball leagues in the world. Founded in New York City on June 6, 1946, as the Basketball Association of America (BAA), it later merged with the National Basketball League (NBL) in 1949 and adopted the NBA name. The league’s structure includes two conferences, the Eastern and Western, each divided into three divisions. The NBA regular season typically runs from October to April, followed by playoff tournaments culminating in the NBA Finals, where the conference champions compete for the championship title.
