The Tough One, created by Steve Ireland and WOR Events is the number one Extreme Scramble event in the United Kingdom. Its a two-hour sprint scramble inside and out of the quarry through rocks, hills, mud, manmade obstacles and nasty weather conditions. It is one of the toughest two hours of extreme enduro racing in the world. Ireland also has a few surprises up his sleeve about this years format.
2010 boasts an International all-star lineup of riders including Defending Champion Taddy Blazusiak, three-time winner David Knight, 12-time World Trials Champion Dougie Lampkin and 2009 Red Bull Romaniacs winner Andreas Lettenbichler, just to name a few. Never before has this race seen an amazing field of competitors such as this in its six year existence.
This event is a real treat for spectators who will be able to walk around the quarry section in minutes and will have the opportunity to see each rider every 6-7 minutes. Access and parking is excellent and spectators can stand on the side of the course to cheers their favorites onwards.
The Tough One is part of the World Xtreme Enduro Championship (WXEC) which officially begins in 2011. The WXEC is a worldwide tour of Extreme Enduro events that culminates in one champion at the end of the year. Riders will be awarded points at each round of the series. The rider who has gathered the most points in the end will be the World Xtreme Enduro Champion. The other four races include Hells Gate, Erzbergrodeo, Red Bull Romaniacs and The Roof of Africa. Extreme Enduro is described as man and machine against incredibly difficult terrain on a time-clock. The sport is relatively new compared to traditional Enduro and Motocross. However, the sport is increasing worldwide with the formation of races like the Indoor World Cup and the US Endurocross Series.
